11th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry Headstone Dedication Ceremony

Fort Caspar Museum and the Fort Caspar Museum Association invite you to join us on Saturday, June 1st at 10:00 am, for the dedication ceremony honoring nine soldiers of the 11th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry who have received headstones in the fort's commemorative cemetery.
Elizabeth Jennings, a descendant of one of the soldiers honored with a headstone will be speaking at the event, as well as local veteran of the war in Afghanistan, Colton Sasser. This event marks the completion of the first phase in the "Lest We Forget" commemorative cemetery project at Fort Caspar. Originally started in the 1970s, the project aims to install headstones for all of the soldiers who died while in the line of duty at Fort Caspar between 1862 and 1867. The dedication ceremony will be held outside and is free and open to the public. We hope you can attend and help us honor these heroes!
